B.Lee7 days ago
CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. (WOOD) — A loss of water pressure has prompted a boil water advisory in Cedar Springs. is precautionary due to what the city described as a "loss of water pressure in the water distribution system caused by an alarm system malfunction" on Tuesday. Everyone who uses the Cedar Springs water system should boil their water for two minutes before consuming it. It's safe to bathe in the water without boiling it. When a water system experiences a drop in pressure, bacteria may enter the system. The boil water advisory is precautionary; no bacteria had been found in the system as of Tuesday. The city of Cedar Springs is working to restore water pressure. Water staff is flushing and collecting bacteriological samples from around the system to make sure the water quality meets state drinking water standards. The city expects to lift the advisory by Thursday as long as the sampling comes back clean. The Village Learning Center in Cedar Springs will be closed through Thursday due to the boil water advisory.
