Northeast Ohio: Are you prepared for the snow?

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The 19 First Alert team is forecasting a wintry mix of rain and snow on Thursday making it the first snowfall of the season.

Reliable Snow Plowing Specialists are making final preparations and putting the plows on their trucks.

"We are excited. We actually prepare year-round for snow. I know it sounds unusual, but our equipment prepped ready to go," the company's founder Norm Detrick said. "It goes through our normal reverberation process where we're always battling corrosion especially the wiring, but we are good to go."

Detrick said they keep a close eye on the forecast.

"We're always in touch with the zone by zone forecast, so that really is a useful tool for us," Detrick said.

While mother nature can sometimes be a little unpredictable, Detrick said they stay ready for whatever comes.

"We're looking at the forecast daily," Detrick said. "In two hours, we're expecting snow to hit paved surfaces then we launch what we call our rovers and those are actually driving monitoring micro weather patterns."
