BOONSBORO, Md. ( DC News Now ) — In western Maryland, volunteers with the Future Farmers of America are rallying to help those devastated by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina.

The Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter in Boonsboro is placing cowboy boots in local businesses to collect cash donations for a relief fund.

The group is gathering donated supplies to load onto two tractor-trailers to deliver to rural communities impacted by the storm.

"There are a lot of affected farms. All the hay they put up for summer would have gotten completely washed away and they have nothing to feed their livestock now. Plus, their parishes were destroyed," Bryan Babington with the FFA chapter, said.

Those wishing to support the effort may visit the Boonsboro Future Farmers of America alumni Facebook page.
