CATLETTSBURG An Ashland woman is in custody on a $200,000 cash bond after a Boyd County grand jury returned an indictment, accusing her of allowing a child under the age of 12 access to methamphetamine.

Per court documents, Brie Caldwell, 38, was arrested last Tuesday after grand jurors issued an indictment on charges of first-degree criminal child abuse, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of methamphetamine and an unspecified drug, and drug paraphernalia.

The indictment suggests the wanton endangerment and child abuse charges occurred between Aug. 1-21, with the drug possession charges occurring on Oct. 24.

Due to the minor age of the alleged victim, details are scarce, however available records state Caldwell "intentionally place(d) a minor child age 12 or under in a situation that may cause serious physical injury by allowing the child access to a controlled substance," and "wantonly engage(d) in conduct ... creating a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury to another person."

The first-degree child abuse charge is a class B felony, which could result in a prison sentence of up to 20 years, if Caldwell were to be convicted.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather a grand jury found probable cause to continue felony prosecution after presented with preliminary evidence.

The individuals appearing in these reports remain innocent until proven guilty:

• Lawrence Wolfe, 66, of Ashland, was indicted on 10 counts of possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under the ager of 12 — each class C felonies.

He is held in the Boyd County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.

• John D. Frasher, 55, of Ashland, was indicted on a sole count of simple possession of methamphetamine.

He is held in the Boyd County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
