BRHS Marching Band Finished First In Class AAA Competition
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Marching Band captured a championship title at its first season competition.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School, under the leadership of Band Directors Nick Mossa and Dr. Tom Bourgault, finished first in the Class AAA competition at the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School's 25th annual Home Show on Saturday.
The show at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School began the New Jersey Marching Band Directors Association (NJMBDA) competition season for 2024.
Bridgewater-Raritan's winning performance was titled "Journey to the Bottom of the Sea."
Bridgewater-Raritan swept to the title in the AAA class with the top finish in Best Music, Best Visual and Best Overall in the Caption Award categories to amass 76.7 points. Ridge High School placed second in AAA with 71.5 and East Brunswick High School finished third with a score of 71.3.
Westfield High School captured first place in the AAAA competition and Manville High School placed first in the A group.
Overall in the total field of 11 schools that competed, Westfield finished first and was named the Grand Champion and Bridgewater-Raritan placed second.
"We're really proud that the students' hard work has resulted in a great first competitive showing," Mossa said. "They deserve the result, and we are excited to keep growing and improving."
The next scheduled event when Bridgewater-Raritan can deliver its growth and improvement will be in the NJMBDA competition on Sept. 28, at John P. Stevens High School in Edison.
The season will conclude with the NJMBDA State Championships on Sunday, Nov. 3, at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.
