‘Brilliant Disguise’: Bruce Springsteen Visits Jeremy Allen White on Biopic Set

The Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere entered production last week with actor Jeremy Allen White at the helm as Springsteen himself. The actor spent months preparing for the role by scouring YouTube for footage of the musician. But during the latest shoot day, White gained access to Springsteen as a first-hand reference when he dropped by the film set in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Springsteen can be seen embracing White with a wide smile on his face in photos captured from the set. Being in New Jersey is getting White into character just as much as his Springsteen-emulating wardrobe of leather jackets, blue jeans, and flannel button-downs. From its looks, the details surrounding the musician's past haven't been overlooked, either. Springsteen's first car, a model of the Chevrolet Z28 Camaro released in the Eighties, appears in the background of the photos with White. Deliver Me From Nowhere zooms in on the making of Springsteen's 1982 album Nebraska.

The film is scheduled to arrive in 2025 and shared its first-look image of White as Springsteen on its first production day. White is currently 33, which is the age the musician was when he recorded the classic album. The pair have kept in touch through text and crossed paths at various events over the past few months, one of the most recent being a screening of the Hulu documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. White initially wanted to keep some distance to allow himself "to have a bit of my own process with it before meeting the man," he told Variety .

Trending Stories "I've seen the scripts, and I've talked to the director," Springsteen recently shared in Rolling Stone's Musicians on Musicians while in conversation with Zach Bryan. "They're just putting it all together, so I don't have an awful lot to say about it, but I'm excited about it happening ... It's an interesting story, and the script is really good. I feel good about the whole project."

Scott Cooper serves as writer and director on Deliver Me From Nowhere, which is based on Warren Zanes' 2023 book of the same name. "Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey," Cooper shared in a statement last week. "Bruce Springsteen's 'Nebraska' has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album's raw, unvarnished portrayal of life's trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes' compelling narrative of Bruce's life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce's legacy in a transformative cinematic experience."
