Who and where: John and Janice Mantovani of Creve Coeur and Steve and Joan Goodrich of Des Peres at Gotthard Pass in the Swiss Alps while on a European trip from Lake Como to a Rhine river cruise.
The trip: They spent 10 days in September starting at Lake Como, then traveling through the Alps and beginning a Rhine river cruise from Basel, Switzerland, to Amsterdam.
Travel tip: When traveling with friends, guided tours can be great, but allow yourself time to explore places on your own to fully appreciate the experience of new places with old friends.
