Broncos throw it back to 1977 and it’s awesome

Good morning, Broncos Country! When it comes to sports, people love nostalgia.

Heck, that's the case for most things in life. But it's especially true in the wide world of sports. And it's definitely the case for the Denver Broncos and their throwback "D" and royal blue uniforms. At least for some in Broncos Country, me included.

Today, the Broncos celebrate the 1977 Broncos and Orange Crush defense with vintage uniforms. The "D" on the royal (or sky) blue helmets, orange jerseys, and socks are from the 1977 uniform. They're beautiful. They should also be the jersey for this franchise again.

As cornerback Pat Surtain II said this week: "It sucks we only wear them twice this year."

But this weekend is more than the jerseys. They're the icing on the cake.

Today, the Broncos honor Randy Grandishar's Hall of Fame induction, finally induct Steve Foley and Riley Odoms into the Ring of Fame, and celebrate the 1977 team that went to the franchise's first Super Bowl .

And this happens against the hated Las Vegas Raiders .

Hopefully Sean Payton had Broncos legend Tom Jackson talk to the current team this week about what this rivalry means and why Denver needs to win this game today.

Throughout the week on social media, the Broncos have sent highlights from that magical season.

As a fan who wasn't yet alive to experience that season, it's always fun to see and hear some of the moments that made it possible.

Now it's time for the current version of the Broncos to do their part and curb-stomp the Raiders.
