HOUSTON — After a weekend that saw four Top 10 teams get upset, expect to see a lot of changes when the AP Top 25 Poll is released on Sunday.

Those changes will include a new No. 1 team after previous No. 1 Alabama was upset on the road against unranked Vanderbilt, 40-35.

The new AP Poll will be released around or at 1 p.m. Central Time on Sunday.

No. 2 Texas, which was idle this weekend, is likely to move up to the top spot with No. 3 Ohio State moving up right behind them. The Buckeyes beat Iowa, 35-7 to remain undefeated.

Saturday saw three Top 10 teams from the Southeastern Conference get upset while facing teams on the road. Besides Alabama, No. 4 Tennessee lost to unranked Arkansas, 19-14, while No. 9 Missouri was blown out by No. 25 Texas A&M, 41-10, in the weekend's matchup between ranked teams.

No. 10 Michigan lost on the road as well to Washington, 27-17, in their first meeting since the 2024 National Championship Game.

The Longhorns were not the only ranked teams that were idle this weekend. LSU, Notre Dame, BYU, Utah, Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Illinois all had byes.

Looking ahead

This all sets up what is expected to be one of the biggest weekends of the college football season next week with Texas and Oklahoma meeting in the Red River Rivalry, which is now an SEC game. Penn State will play at Southern Cal, which is now a Big Ten conference matchup.

LSU will host Ole Miss as both look to stay in the race for the SEC Championship Game.

However, the headliner will be Ohio State heading to Eugene to play Oregon in what will likely be a meeting between two Top 5 teams.
