Browns fail at home: A team loss with many to blame

G.Perez23 min ago
The Cleveland Browns lost to the New York Giants in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season in a game that really wasn't as close as the 21-15 final score. The Browns dropped to 1-2 early in the season with two demoralizing losses and squeaking out their one victory.

Following their Week 1 loss , I shared that blame should be shared all around including but not limited to:

Deshaun Watson Kevin Stefanski Jim Schwartz No rushing attack Pass catchers Lack of impact plays on defense Following the Week 3 loss, the list is similar:

Deshaun Watson Kevin Stefanski Jim Schwartz No rushing attack Pass catchers Lack of impact plays on defense Injuries/lack of depth What was different between the two losses was how heavily the blame was weighted. In Week 1, Watson was downright horrible. In Week 3, he just wasn't great. On the other hand, Stefanski struggled to make adjustments on offense and Schwartz's defense continues to have problems that reared their ugly head in the playoffs last year.

Injuries continue to create more problems as well. While it is not an excuse, Cleveland has placed a number of defenders on injured reserve which impacts their depth while the finishing offensive line was something we could have never guessed would ever be the five up front together:

LT Joel Bitonio LG Ethan Pocic C Nick Harris RG Zak Zinter RT Dawand Jones Even when the starting group was healthy it did not look good. Losing Jedrick Wills again to an injury and Wyatt Teller missing most of the second half didn't help at all.

While the Browns could have won the game if WR Cedric Tillman caught the perfect pass from Watson late in the game, Cleveland would have still had to put the ball into the endzone. Given the offense's lack of production for most of the game, that is a lot to assume.

In the end, help might be on the way after next week but that doesn't mean anything if the struggles around the team continue.

How would you spread the blame around for today's loss? Who gets the most?
