West title team to be honored

The 50th anniversary of the 1974 Davenport West 4A state championship football team will be celebrated during the school's upcoming homecoming week.

Players and coaches from the 1974 team will be honored during halftime of the homecoming game between Davenport West and Muscatine on Thursday night at Brady Street Stadium. Kickoff on Thursday is listed for 7 p.m., but there is a sub-varsity game in front of the varsity contest.

Players from the 1974 squad are invited to participate in the West homecoming parade on Tuesday night.

A reunion for the team also is planned for Saturday, Sept. 28 at Gypsy Highway Restaurant and Bar from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
