Buffalo Bills sign WR from practice squad ahead of Week 10 at Indianapolis Colts

The Buffalo Bills have signed wide receiver Jalen Virgil from their practice squad ahead of the team's Week 10 game against the Indianapolis Colts . Virgil originally joined the Bills just ahead of the 2024 NFL season, signing to the practice squad on August 29.

Virgil has twice been a practice-squad call-up this season for Buffalo, in Weeks 8 and 9 against the Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins , respectively. Virgil is now guaranteed a spot on the active 53-man roster for three weeks.

When we announced the news of Virgil's signing over the summe r, there was little more to go on than speculation that he might serve to shake up the pecking order as a return specialist.

Pre-draft buzz about Virgil centered around his reported elite speed. That, however, didn't translate well to testing numbers, which saw him post a decent, but not elite, 4.40 40-yard time at his pro day. To read more about Virgil's limited NFL experience, check out our on him from August .

The obvious follow-up question here is what it all means for rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman, who's dealing with a wrist injury suffered at the end of last weekend's game against the Dolphins. Short of any concrete news/timeline from the Bills and head coach Sean McDermott, it's possible (though just speculation on our part) that One Bills Drive is preparing to be without Coleman for multiple weeks.
