Caleb Williams sets Bears single-game rookie passing yards record

The 21 to 16 loss to the Indianapolis Colts wasn't what Caleb Williams or the Chicago Bears wanted, but there was some history made in the game. With 363 yards passing, Williams broke the franchise record for most passing yards by a rookie, which was held by Mitch Trubisky.

On the day, Caleb was 33 of 52 passing (63.5%) for 363 yards, with two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a passer rating of 80.8.

Trubisky's record was set on December 16, 2017, in Detroit, and he was 31 of 46 (67.4) for 314 yards, one TD, three interceptions, and a passer rating of 66.8.

Caleb also threw the first touchdown pass of his career, and it was to fellow rookie Rome Odunze, and it was the first touchdown reception of his career.

Odunze said that Williams told him to keep the milestone football.

There will be more milestones for Caleb and Rome, and hopefully, they'll come in Chicago wins.

"I'm definitely feeling this loss. It sucks. It never gets any better." Williams said in his post-game press conference, "But I'm still proud of my guys."

He said he feels the offense is close to establishing an identity and specified that his defense is playing "lights out."

The 21 to 16 loss was marred by mistakes, coaching miscues, and some bad breaks, but if the offense keeps taking baby steps, if the Caleb to Rome connection continues to develop, they'll start to pull their weight.
