Man steals MPD squad car; suspect detained after chase

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After a man stole a Memphis Police squad car on Sunday, he and another man were detained.

At 2:06 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle involved in a robbery in the area of Hollywood and James Road.

Both suspects ran from the vehicle.

Man dead after overnight shooting

One man was detained immediately and the other male stole a squad car.

Officers pursued the vehicle until it stopped at Mountain Terrance near James where the suspect ran.

Officers managed to detain the suspect.

No officers were injured. No vehicles were damaged. No charges have been filed at this time.
