Casper College student food pantry is growing popular among students

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - In 2020, the Casper College Student Senate opened the food pantry as a resource for students to help battle food insecurities. Once a week, students are allowed to come in and grab whatever they need that the pantry offers. Limitations are eight food items and two hygienic or non-food items.

Speaking with the president of the student senate, Shani Osorio-Acala, she says students are responding well to the program.

"There are some people that like to be more closed off about it. They don't like to let everybody know that they use the food pantry and that's totally acceptable. There are some other people that are really appreciative that we have this."

Since the pantry opened, the number of visitors has gone up, making those involved with the student pantry grateful for its rising success.

"It makes you feel good just knowing that all these students are actually getting help from the student pantry," said Osorio-Acala.

For students who are interested, food pantry hours are from Monday to Thursday 8 to 8. With Friday hours from 8 to 5. For those in the community interested, the food pantry does accept donations.
