Certain frozen waffle products recalled due to listeria risk
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Multiple frozen waffle products manufactured by TreeHouse Foods, Inc. have been recalled due to potential listeria contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to the FDA, listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and people with weakened immune systems. Other individuals may suffer short-term symptoms like high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
There have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the recalled products, according to TreeHouse Foods. The issue was discovered during routine testing at the company's manufacturing facility.
