TILDEN Charles Mickler, March 18, 1937 – September 12, 2024, With great sadness, his family announces the passing of Charles Mickler Tilden, who left us peacefully in Clearwater, Florida, on September 12, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on March 18, 1937, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Charlie was the beloved son of the late Margaret Mickler Tilden and George William Tilden.

He is preceded in death by his sister Joan Tilden McCollum and his beloved wife of 60 years Geraldine Marie Tilden. Charlie and Geraldine knew the profound joy of true companionship. Their love story began in 1963 in Afton, Minnesota, where they embarked on a journey as partners in life, laughter and love. Together, they navigated a shared life, filled with cherished memories.

In 1964 they moved to Seattle, Washington and then on to Sequim, Washington. In 1995 they purchased a home in Clearwater, Florida where they became snowbirds and eventually settled.

Charlie was a proud alumnus of the St. Paul Academy and Summit School, where he laid the foundation for a life marked by a quest for knowledge and a passion for excellence. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota, where he earned both a degree in engineering and law.

During his time at the university, he became an active member of the Chi Psi Fraternity, forming lifelong friendships and cherishing the memories created alongside his fraternity brothers.

After his studies, he proudly served in the United States Coast Guard. Charlie was an accomplished attorney and Banker. He worked at the First National Bank of Minneapolis where he was Vice President of the sales and lease back department. He was also President of the Mickler Corp., a bank holding company, and served on the board of The First National Bank of Clearwater.

A true aficionado of automobiles, Charlie was a passionate car lover and collector, always eager to share stories about the exotics that filled his garage. He possessed a voracious appetite for reading, particularly enjoying historical literature, which was reflected in his wealth of knowledge and engaging conversations. Known among friends and family for his quick wit and keen sense of humor, Charlie had a remarkable ability to brighten even the cloudiest of days.

Charlie is survived by his cousins Charles Mickler Bently (Shirley), William Penn Dawson S.J., and Seymour Charles Mickler Dawson (Diane), niece Gerri Rosseau (Eric) and loving friends and family, who will deeply miss his warm presence, infectious laughter, and wisdom. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his generosity to friends, family, and community.

An interment will be announced at a later date.

Rest in peace, Charlie. We will always cherish the moments we shared and the joyful spirit you brought into our lives.
