The shelter director of operations says hundreds of animal lives were saved Saturday.

"The thinking on bringing the vaccine clinic to the community is to try to remove barriers to folks that otherwise wouldn't be able to maybe make it all the way out to the shelter location to get vaccines or maybe can afford the cost of getting vaccines at a regular vet clinic," Aspasia Yeager, director of operations for the Humane Society of Harrisburg, said.

She says a couple hundred vaccines were given out.

The Humane Society has held clinics at their shelter once a month with the help of Harrisburg Police.
