Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes on Bills Loss: Undefeated Season Was 'Not Our Ultimate Goal'
M.Nguyen25 min ago
Timothy T Ludwig/ The previously undefeated Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, falling 30-21 to the Buffalo Bills. While starting the season 9-0 was a notable accomplishment, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admitted it wasn't the team's primary focus. "The undefeated thing was cool, but that's not our ultimate goal," Mahomes said, according to KSHB 41 News' Matt Foster . Mahomes completed 23-of-33 passes for 196 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in the Chiefs first loss of the season. The Bills controlled most of the game, taking a 16-14 lead into halftime before outscoring the Chiefs 14-7 in the second half. "That's a good football team," Mahomes said in the post-game press conference . "Nothing to hang your head on, losing to them. We feel like we can play better, so we'll get back to work and try and use this as a spark so that we can be a better football team in the end." Head coach Andy Reid didn't seem concerned after the game, approaching it with a mindset that the team would learn from the loss, make adjustments and get back to work. "The margin between winning and losing is small and that starts with me," Reid said . "We can all learn from it and take something out of this, and make us better down the road here."
