Chris Hance Grajeda, 74, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024. Born in Michigan, Chris's family moved to Texas before eventually settling in California, where her father began a long career at Lockheed. Chris graduated from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, CA, in 1968. After high school, she attended beauty school and embarked on a successful 50-year career as a stylist. Much of her salon career was spent at Salon D'Elegance in Mountain View, CA, where her warmth, charisma, and remarkable skill made her a beloved figure among her many loyal clients.

Chris had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, a gift that shone brightly in both her professional and personal life. Later in her career, she took on a second role at Sunken Gardens Golf Course in Sunnyvale, CA, where she worked for 22 years. There, she handled everything from frost delays and guests arriving without tee times to managing countless computer and software upgrades–though she often missed the simplicity of the days when tee times were simply written on paper.

In 2006, Chris married the love of her life, Dan Grajeda. Together, they cherished all the beauty Northern California had to offer, particularly enjoying visits to the region's many wineries. Chris also had a deep love for being near water, finding peace by lakes, streams, and the ocean. Her interests were wide-ranging and heartfelt, including her beloved dogs, gardening, tailgating at 49ers games, cooking, entertaining, and decorating for the holidays. However, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ruth Hance. She is survived by her loving husband, Dan Grajeda; her brothers, Mike and Ben Hance; her daughter, Penny Turilli; and her beloved grandchildren, Emma and Thomas Turilli. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Chris's life will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 11 AM at the Sunken Gardens Golf Course patio, located at 1010 S. Wolfe Rd, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor her memory and the many lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to an animal rescue charity of your choice in support of causes that benefit animals and pets, which were close to Chris's heart.
