City manager finalists selected in Junction City

JUNCTION CITY ( KSNT ) – Locals in Junction City can meet with the finalists for the city manager position later this month at a local opera house.

The City of Junction City announced in a press release on Friday, Nov. 15 that four finalists for the city manager spot will be available to meet with from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 at the 2nd-floor rehearsal hall at the C.L. Hoover Opera House located at 135 West Seventh Street. Each of the finalists will be on hand to speak with locals in an informal setting.

Rose Beverly

Beverly has more than nine years of experience in the public sector at the executive level, according to the City of Junction City. She is currently working as the city administrator for the City of Berea in Kentucky which has a population of 17,000 people. She has also previously worked as a city administrator for the City of Aitkin in Minnesota and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in sociology.

Randy Robertson

Robertson is a retired U.S. Army officer with experience serving as city manager of Aberdeen in Maryland which has a population of 18,000 people, according to the City of Junction City. He also served as city manager of multiple other cities in Alaska, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky. His military service includes serving as chief of staff at the U.S. Army post at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico and deputy command/chief of staff at the U.S. Army Second Signal Brigade in Europe. He holds three master's degrees in urban planning, public administration and strategic planning.

Kim David Zimmerman

Zimmerman holds 30 years of experience serving in administrative positions and 20 years of experience serving as a logistics officer in the U.S. Army, according to the City of Junction City. He has served as city manager in Ridgway, Pennsylvania and as chief administrator for the Borough of Lewistown, Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor of science degree with a biology emphasis and a master of science degree with a geography and regional planning emphasis.

Blaine Oborn

Oborn has more than 20 years of experience working as a local government professional manager and nearly 40 years of experience in government, according to the City of Junction City. He most recently served as city administrator in Oak Harbor in Washington state which has a population of almost 25,000. He holds a master of public policy and administration degree along with a bachelor of science in business administration.

Each candidate for the city manager spot has been invited to participate in an on-site interview process from Nov. 22-23. This includes a community tour, interview and engagement sessions with the mayor and city commissioners and another community meet-and-greet.
