CUB SCOUT PACK MEETS
Boys in grades 1-5 may attend the next Cub Scout Pack 232 event at 4 p.m. today, Oct. 20 at the Back Mountain Regional Fire & EMS Station – 184 E. Center Hill Road, Dallas.
The station will host a fire safety demonstration featuring the equipment they now have. Members of the pack will collect gently-used coats for the Back Mountain Police Association Coat Drive. Harvest refreshments will be served.

AUDITIONS SLATED
Auditions for “A Christmas Carol – The Musical” will be held today, Oct. 20 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville.
Children between the ages of 7 and 13 will audition from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and adults will audition from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
All who audition will be asked to sing a song of choice. No karaoke tracks will be allowed. An accompanist will be provided. Those interested in speaking roles will be asked to read from the script. All roles except that of Scrooge are open.
Production dates are Dec. 5 to 8, 12 to 15 and 19 to 22. Rehearsals will begin Oct. 28.
BREAKFAST BUFFET
The Noxen Volunteer fire Company will hold a breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Oct. 20 at the fire hall, Stull Road.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12 years of age.
PRESENTATION SLATED
“Lake Malawi, Where Fishes Behave Like Birds” will be presented at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Irem Road, Dallas.
Dr. Bill Loftus will present a travelogue about the African country of Malawi. Lake Malawi is the third largest and second deepest lake in Africa and is reportedly the habitat of more species of fish than any other body of fresh water. Learn about this amazing lake, the people who depend on it and the incredible colors and behaviors of the fishes that live there.

BINGO PLANNED
Bingo will be held on Monday, Oct. 21 at the Northmoreland Twp. Fire Hall in Centermoreland. Doors open at 5 p.m. and early birds start at 6:30 p.m. Food and beverages will be available.
CANDIDATES FORUM
The Downtown Residents Association is sponsoring a Luzerne County Candidates Forum from 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Wilkes University Henry Center Ballroom, 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre.
Candidates seeking Luzerne County Council and Controller positions will speak. Admission is free and parking is available on site.
ROAST BEEF SUPPPER
A roast beef supper will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Northmoreland Twp. Fire Hall in Centermoreland.
Tickets, at $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12 years of age, are available at the door. Takeouts will be available.
‘NATIONAL PASTIME’ AT LITTLE THEATER
The Little Theatre of Wilkes Barre will present “National Pastime” at 8 p.m. on Oct. 25, 26 and 31 and Nov. 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9 and at 3 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 and 10.
“National Pastime” is a musical comedy that tells the story of the 1933 Baker City Cougars. It is set in a small rural town in middle America during the Depression. The local radio station is faced wtih bankruptcy, low ratings and the possibility of going under so the staff takes it upon themselves to create a fictional baseball team that never loses.

‘SEUSSICAL’ AT MUSIC BOX
“Seussical the Musical Junior” will be presented by the Music Box Youth Players at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 26 and at 2 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Music Box Dinner Playhouse, 196 Hughes St., Swoyersville.

SQUARE DANCE PLANNED
A square dance featuring the Roger Furman Band and sponsored by the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the fire hall, 329 Orange Road.
Admission is $6 and food and refreshments will be available with the kitchen opening at 6 p.m.
BEEF DINNER
The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company will hold a family-style beef dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 with takeouts beginning at 4 p.m.
Cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children between the ages of 6 and 11 and free for children under 6 years of age.
OPEN HOUSE
An Open House and Harvest Festival will be held from at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27 at the Jackson Township Fire Department, 1160 Chase Road, Shavertown. There will be pumpkin carving contest, costume parade, games, prizes and more.
The Dallas High School field hockey team will hold a fundraising event from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at McDonald’s in Shavertown. Members of the team will work at McDonald’s that evening.
A bake sale and Dallas Mountaineers clothing items will also be for sale.
CONTRA DANCE SET
A New England Contra dance featuring music by the band the Contra Rebels with Todd Clewell and Barb Scmid on fiddles, Henry Koretzky on guitar and calling by Baxter Hilton will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the the Church of Christ Uniting, 776 Market St., Kingston.
No partner or previous experience is necessary. Admission to the dance is $9 for adults with reduced admission for families. A pot luck dinner will start at 6 p.m.
MEETING CANCELED
The regularly scheduled monthly meeting for Nov. 5 has been cancelled. Mountain Grange No. 567 normally meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month in the Grange Hall.
The Dallas Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Nov. 7 in the board room of the Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center, 4 E. Center Hill Road, Dallas.
