Class D-1 state volleyball: Exeter-Milligan/Friend will play for its first state title

LINCOLN — Exeter-Milligan/Friend will play for its first state title Saturday at the state volleyball tournament.
The Bobcats defeated previously unbeaten Southwest in four sets on Friday in a Class D-1 semifinal at Pinnacle Bank Arena. EMF won 26-24, 25-19, 17-25, 25-13 and will play for the championship at 11 a.m. at the Devaney Center.
The Roughriders entered the match with a 34-0 record, one of only two undefeated teams at state. They'll play in a consolation match Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lincoln North Star.
Exeter-Milligan reached state 13 times and Friend qualified six times. This will be the first time the team plays for a championship as this co-op.
