Clearwater man hit woman with opposing political views at early voting site, police say

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A Clearwater man was charged with a misdemeanor after he allegedly hit a woman Saturday at an early voting site who had opposing political views, according to police.

Andrew Francis, 32, "made numerous aggressive actions and used verbal obscenities toward an opposing political group," police said, outside of the Clearwater Courthouse, which is being used as an early voting location.

Francis allegedly crossed the street and hit the woman in the "opposing political group" with his shoulder, making her lose her balance, according to police.

Francis was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of simple battery.

No other details were immediately available.
