Clothes Closet celebrates five years
ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local effort that provides free clothing to people in need is celebrating a milestone this week.
The Clothes Closet at Rockville First United Methodist Church opened five years ago.
It offers free clothing, shoes, coats and accessories to people of all ages.
Volunteers estimate the Clothes Closet serves between 40 and 50 families each week.
"We've had people tell us that we've been a blessing to them. There's a lot of young families with a lot of little kids that are really in need. We've seen homeless people. We've seen people who have had fires. We've seen people who have just been released from jail, and so we're out there to help anybody and everybody who needs it," said volunteer Leann Malone.
The Clothes Closet is open from 1pm to 5pm on Thursdays.
It also accepts donations. Donations can be brought to the church office, which is open from 9am to 1pm Monday through Thursday.
