College basketball game delayed due to player vomiting on floor

A college basketball game was delayed for an unusual and gross reason Thursday night. Play stopped during the Eastern Michigan vs. IU Indianapolis (formerly ) game for several minutes after a player vomited on the court during the middle of the game.

Eastern Michigan's Jalin Billingsley was running back on defense less than three minutes into the game when he started throwing up on the floor, making a big mess that the trainers later cleaned up.

The good news is that Billingsley was able to stay in the college basketball game. He ended up scoring eight points and grabbed four rebounds in 28 minutes as Eastern Michigan beat IU Indianapolis 74-71.

Jalen Terry led the way for Eastern Michigan with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Arne OsojnikChristian Henry also reached double figure scoring for the Eagles.

As for IU Indianapolis, the Jaguars were led by Paul Zilinskas, who scored 25 points in the loss. College basketball season is officially off and running. Hopefully there won't be any more puking incidents as the season unfolds.

IUPUI became IU Indianapolis over the summer

In case you're wondering what school IU Indianapolis is, it's the university that was previously known as IUPUI. Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis officially became IU Indianapolis on July 1 of 2024.

The school's website explains that the decision was made to split: "Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) into two institutions."

The website further clarified the decision and why the change was made:

"As our state's economic, educational, and workforce development needs evolved, it was evident that we needed a correspondingly bold move to propel our institution forward. Central Indiana business and community members requested more talent and training in the engineering, sciences, technological, and healthcare disciplines, plus more high-end research. In the new era, IU Indianapolis does more than just participate in an innovation-led economy. We lead the charge, fueling growth in our community and far beyond."
