Community mourns after Cambria County K9 officer dies from cancer
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — The community is morning after a South Fork K9 officer died from cancer.
Officer Bas Wyar, who was only 8 years old, was called to the white lights after a battle with cancer. Bas was partnered with Chief Don Wyar of the South Fork Police Department.
According to Hindman Funeral Home, Bas served Cambria County starting in 2017.
Bas had to battle criminals and cancer the past few years, unfortunately succumbing to the latter.
Bas was trained in narcotics detection and criminal apprehension through North American Police Work Dog Association by master trainer, Bill Sombo and trainer, Justin Wardman, the obituary reads.
