Constance Louise Darrah Rothstein, a beloved educator, passionate historian and dedicated advocate for the communities of the San Gabriel Valley, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, at the age of 84. She leaves behind a rich legacy of education, activism, and a profound love for history that touched countless lives.

Born in Spokane, Washington, in 1940, Connie attended North Central High School and Holy Names College. Fleeing the cold, she moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960s, where she began her impactful career in the San Gabriel School District.

Over her 40-year career, she taught grades from kindergarten through twelfth grade, serving as a special education teacher, counselor, president of the teachers' association and their chief negotiator. Connie loved sharing anecdotes from her teaching experiences, which inspired students and colleagues alike

Connie enjoyed a long and loving marriage to Michael Rothstein, with whom she shared a life filled with love. Connie is survived by her four adult children: Anne Marie, Michael, Rebecca, and David. She will be remembered by a multitude of friends and colleagues for her kindness, generosity, and passion for history.

A celebration of Connie's life will be held in 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the La Casa San Gabriel Community Center (
