Coroner identifies woman killed by possible DUI driver on E. Truxtun Ave.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner's Office has released the identity of the woman who was killed when her vehicle was rear-ended in east Bakersfield Saturday night.

The office identified Lorena De La Torre-Luna, 47, of Bakersfield Monday afternoon.

Around 11:14 p.m. De La Torre-Luna's vehicle was parked on the north curb of East Truxtun Avenue and Miller Street when a Dodge Durango traveling westbound slammed into the back of her vehicle.

De La Torre-Luna died from her injuries at the scene.

The passenger of the victim's vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition on Sept. 28., according to BPD.

The driver of the Dodge Durango was not injured during the crash and was detained by security officers working in the area until BPD arrived. Police believe speed and alcohol were factors possible factors in the crash.
