Coroner: Teen dies in two-vehicle crash in Gallitzin Township

GALLITZIN, Pa. – A teenager died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning at state Route 53 and Chestnut Street in Gallitzin Township, Cambria County, authorities said.

The 18-year-old man was driving a 2016 Ford Escape when the vehicle collided with a school bus with no students onboard, Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees said.

The bus was traveling north on state Route 53 when it collided with the Ford Escape that was apparently turning left onto state Route 53 from Chestnut Street.

The 18-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family. An autopsy will be conducted at ForensicDX in Windber.

A passenger in the Ford Escape was taken to an Altoona hospital. The bus driver was not injured. Local and state police are investigating.
