FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 77-year-old Fort Wayne man has been identified as the person killed in a crash on U.S. 27 near Flatrock Road Wednesday night.BACKGROUND: One dead, one injured following crash involving wrong-way driver in southeast Allen County Wednesday Lawrence Oren Gillespie Sr., the 34th traffic fatality for Allen County in 2024, died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Allen County Coroner's Office. His death has been ruled an accident. According to the Allen County Sheriff's Department, Gillespie was driving northbound in a pickup truck on southbound U.S. 27, before striking a pickup truck traveling southbound on southbound U.S. 27. A southbound semi then hit both pickups. The driver of the other pickup was taken to the hospital in serious condition. The incident remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff's Department, the Allen County Prosecutor's Office and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
