r. Ernest R. Gelb, a
board-certified family practice physician in West Pittston, has been elected
vice president of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.
Formerly, he was secretary/treasurer of the state Osteopathic Family
Physicians Society.
he organization has been awarded a Townie
Award from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center for the partnership’s Paint the
Town Red, White and Blue project 1999.
Jo-Ann Yannuzzi, executive director of the civic partnership accepted the
plaque at the center’s annual conference June 6 in York.
The award was presented to the partnership in the promotions and public
relations category.
rancis Curry, director of admissions at
LCCC, has been awarded the Alumni Association’s Abigail M. George Outstanding
Service Award.
This is the first year that the award was presented to a volunteer.
At LCCC, Curry has served as the Circle K adviser for 24 years and the
Adult Learners’ Association adviser for 13 years.
He has been a member of the Alumni Association for 25 years. Curry
coordinates the annual students/staff vs. alumni basketball game and serves as
a member of the United Way Workplace Council.
He holds an associate’s degree from LCCC, a bachelor’s degree from
Bloomsburg University and a master’s degree from the University of Scranton.
Gelb is a partner in the Intermountain Medical Group. He graduated from
King’s College and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also
received the 2000 Raymond J. Saloom Memorial Award for his dedication to
family practice and the osteopathic profession.
The association elected officers for the 2000-2001 year during its 92nd
Annual Clinical Assembly held May 3-6 at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in
Philadelphia.
