Crews battling brush fire near Montage Mountain

SCRANTON

Fire crews and representatives from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources are at the scene of a brush fire in a wooded area near the ski slopes on Montage Mountain Sunday afternoon, Scranton Assistant Fire Chief Jack Davis said.

Davis noted the department got the call for the fire during the night and crews are on scene this afternoon, actively fighting it. He expects firefighters to be there most of the day.

The fire had been contained to the wooded area, as of Sunday afternoon, Davis said.

"We're still trying to assess how big it is," he said.
