Sep. 20—MONTANDON — At Wednesday night's meeting, the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit board of directors named Slade Shreck vice president.

Shreck was the unit's board secretary prior to the vote and is also a member of the Shikellamy School District board. The board will vote for a new secretary at their Oct. 16 meeting.

Earlier in the meeting, Lewisburg High School student Mariah Drexler stood before the board and summarized her experience at the Pa. Governor's School for the Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University this summer.

The school is a rigorous, five-week program that provides talented Pennsylvania rising high school seniors with enrichment experiences in the sciences and mathematics and encourages them to pursue careers in science and technology. Each year, the intermediate unit cosponsors a student selected into the program from its region.

Drexler said she applied for the program because of her interest in STEM.
