Dallas Cowboys news: Micah Parsons knows Commanders are to be ‘taken seriously’

The Cowboys better be ready with no room for error to try and catch the Eagles.

It’s definitely true that the Commanders often play better than their record would indicate, and almost always do when they’re facing the Cowboys, but they’ve put up a serious fight for several heavy-hitters in the NFC.

They lost twice to the Philadelphia Eagles but by only a combined 10 points, and they scored 31 points in each of those outings, with a chance in both contests to win late in the fourth quarter.

They also lost by a field goal against the Seattle Seahawks , so Parsons says the Cowboys are getting ready for a dogfight.

“You turn on the tape and they’ve been close to beating the Eagles — it could’ve [gone] either way,” he said. “The Giants game, I don’t really count that because of the amount of turnovers. The Seahawks game went down to the wire. They remind me a lot of the Chargers .

“They’re a really good team, but the ball doesn’t roll to their side sometimes. This is a team that could and should be on a positive track. It’s a team we need to take very, very seriously and that’s enough motivation.”

For CeeDee Lamb, the quick turnaround is closely highlighted even more this time around in 2023 as he nurses an ankle injury that he suffered against the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday. However, head coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday that there wasn’t a “high level of concern” of Lamb not playing Thursday, and when asked today, Lamb took it one step further.

“I’m straight,” Lamb said. “I’ll be out there getting active.”

It will be Lamb’s third Thanksgiving game since being drafted by the Cowboys in 2020, as he looks to build on his 100-yard performance in 2022 that helped push his team to win.

The opportunity to play on Thanksgiving – after growing up watching the Cowboys on the holiday – will always be special to Lamb, especially with all of his family still around for the big day.

“It’s the ability to do what we love,” Lamb said. “And then at the end of the game – win, lose or draw – we get to celebrate with our families and our loved ones. Just having everyone together and building that camaraderie with your family, you take yourself back to when you were younger. All of those get-togethers, gatherings with your family, just bringing that back to life.”

Should the Cowboys add more depth at linebacker?

The Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday executed a “stunning” move with their release of three-time All-Pro linebacker Darius Shaquille Leonard.

And no, it wouldn’t be “stunning” at all if the Dallas Cowboys began a post-waivers-clearance pursuit of the one-time standout who goes by the nickname “The Maniac.”

“I love you guys,” Leonard posted in a message to Indianapolis fans. “I apologize for not bringing that ( Super Bowl ) trophy back to (the Colts).” ...

Which naturally leads to a clue that his justifiable mindset now is about ring-chasing.

That means he might clear waivers and then move to the most attractive (not just the highest) bidder.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones spoke on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas about his move to add Jimmy Johnson to the Ring of Honor.

Jones shed more light on the decision to add Johnson to the Ring of Honor, saying he felt an animosity when the team inducted DeMarcus Ware in October.

That feeling motivated him to get Johnson into the Ring of Honor this year.

“Jimmy [Johnson] for me was always after he left the Cowboys, and we enjoyed the kinds of success that we had with his involvement in those early 90s, he was always there for the Ring of Honor,” said Jones.

The owner also mentioned that the Cowboys’ work to honor the Medal of Honor recipients the week prior was why the announcement was made at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

Jones also mentioned doing the induction ceremony on December 30, 2023, when the Cowboys play the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium and will be broadcasted on ESPN, meaning Troy Aikman will be in attendance for this moment.

The owner discussed his conversation with Tex Schramm about the Ring of Honor when buying the Cowboys in 1989. Jones said Schramm told him to make the Ring of Honor about people who impacted the franchise’s direction.

“He fit that bill in my mind when I started making the call on the Ring of Honor when Tex [Schramm] left. He fit that bill immediately at the end of his five years,” said Jones.
