Darien High School Ranked Among Top 5 In CT, New Ranking Shows

  • DHS has 1,415 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 11 to 1. According to state test scores, 82 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 89 percent in reading, Niche says.

    The school was also ranked No. 1 on the list of Best High Schools or Athletics in CT .

    The 2025 Best Public High Schools in America ranking, released last week, shows the best traditional public high schools in the nation, including magnet and charter schools.

    Niche said its rankings, now in the 10th year, differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
