These voters prefer Harris over Trump in historic numbers: It’s why she’s ‘still in the race’

Political polarization among levels of education is on the rise.

College education voters — and more specifically, white college-educated voters — are flocking to Kamala Harris over Donald Trump in historic numbers, according to polling. CNN's Harry Enten broke down the numbers on Monday:

"The bottom line is that Kamala Harris, amongst this group, is doing ridiculously, ridiculously well, and is one of the main reasons that she has been able to counter Donald Trump's rising support among voters without a college degree."

Enten broke down support for Democrats and Harris among all people with a college degree. Harris polls at 21%, while Biden won this group by 18 points and Clinton won by 15 points.

How many voters have college degrees?

According to Enten, 41% of the electorate expected to have a college degree, compared to 21% in 1980, 31% in 2000, and 40% in 2020.

Enten added: "This is a big reason Kamala Harris is still in the race right now because even though she is losing a little bit of support among voters without a college degree, she's gaining rapidly among those with a college degree, specifically white voters with a college degree. Either way you look at it, historically high support at this particular moment."
