Darnell T. Brewer for re-election to the Ohio House from District 22: endorsement editorial

Clevelander Darnell T. Brewer has already gotten an education in how Columbus works as he wraps up a first term and seeks a second in a newly reconfigured 22nd Ohio House District (he currently represents the 18th).

As part of a Democratic super-minority, Brewer, 48, a former social services professional, has had to cut deals to try to get things done on legislation that matters to his constituents - on driver's license suspensions, child support payments, gun laws and more. It hasn't been easy, and now, although he lives in the same place, he's in a new district, the redistricted 22nd. His district no longer includes Cleveland Wards 5 and 12 but picks up the suburbs of Bedford and Bedford Heights, while retaining parts or all of Cleveland Wards 1, 2, 4 and 6 and the suburbs of Maple Heights and Garfield Heights.
