Davenport man accused of sexually abusing two children over past two years

A Davenport man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing two children for the past two years, Davenport police said.

Immanuel Ramirez Huerta, 30, is charged in Scott County District Court with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse. The charge is a Class B felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of 25 years.

Huerta also is charged with three Class C felony counts of lascivious acts with a child, which carry a prison sentence of 10 years for each count, and one Class D felony count of lascivious acts with a child that carries a prison sentence of five years.

According to the arrest affidavits filed by Davenport Police Detective Richard Niesen, after moving to Davenport and during the time period from December 2022 until March 22, 2024, sexually abused two children. One of the children was abused from the age of 10 to the age of 11, while another child was abused from the age of 6 to the age of 7.

Huerta was arrested Monday.

During a first appearance on the charges Tuesday in Scott County District Court, Magistrate Ryan Beckenbaugh scheduled a preliminary hearing for Oct. 25.

Huerta was being held Wednesday in the Scott County Jail on a cash-only bond of $250,000 that was set by Beckenbaugh.
