ALLEGAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say two people were killed in a single-car crash near Allegan early Tuesday morning.

The Allegan County Sheriff's Office said the crash was reported around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on 122nd Avenue near the intersection of 30th Street in Allegan Township.

Investigators believe a westbound car left the roadway and struck a tree. Both people inside the car were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

The names of the victims were not released Thursday morning.

The sheriff's office said alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
