Deputies arrest Natchitoches man on drug and weapons charges
A traffic stop has led to the arrest of a Natchitoches man on drug and weapon charges according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.
On Wednesday morning, November 6, 2024, at approximately 11:45am, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Operations Bureau were patrolling on La. Hwy 6-East near Payne Sub-Division when they stopped a 2009 Toyota Camry for a traffic violation.
Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as 19-year-old Treyvon D. Beavers, of the 200 block of Fairgrounds Road in Natchitoches.
Deputies say while speaking with Beavers, they smelled a strong marijuana smoke odor and observed a partially burned suspected marijuana blunt in plain view in the vehicle.
Beavers went on to say "that's all he had in the vehicle."
A probable cause search of the vehicle led to the discovery and seizure of the partially burned suspected marijuana blunt, approximately 24-grams of suspected marijuana, an AR-15 style pistol with no visible serial number and a 30-round magazine.
Deputies also seized a Glock 9mm magazine.
The seized evidence will be submitted to the crime lab for analysis.
As a result: Treyvon D. Beavers, of Natchitoches was placed under arrest without incident, transported and booked into the LaSalle Corrections Center-Natchitoches Parish Unit charged with Possession of CDS Schedule I Marijuana, Illegal Possession of Firearm during a Narcotics Offense and traffic charges. Beavers remains in jail awaiting bond.
Deputy J. Severance and Deputy Cpl. D. Haliburton made the arrest.
