Detours set to begin on Highway 6 in Hearne for railroad repairs

HEARNE, Texas (KBTX) - A thoroughfare in Hearne will be closed for repairs for four days, beginning Friday.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced US 79 and SH 6 at the Union Pacific Railroad Crossing (DOT# 432273M) will be closed from 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 through 5 p.m. the following Monday. Crews will be completing repairs to the planking on the railroad.

Detours for the closure of US 79 and SH 6 are noted below:

SH 6 northbound traffic will detour west on US 79 to north on FM 1644 then east on FM 485

Southbound traffic will detour west on FM 485 to south on FM 1644 to east on US 79

US 79 eastbound traffic towards Franklin will be diverted at FM 2549 to US 79

TxDOT assured there will be plenty of warning signage before traffic will be forced to divert, including local law enforcement for visibility. If this is a path you frequent, be sure to be patient, allot for extra commute time, or plan to take another route to your destination.
