GROTON, Conn. (WPRI) — A 37-year-old Dighton man has died after a crash involving a construction truck in Groton, Connecticut, on Thursday, according to state police.

State police say a Subaru Impreza was driving north around 9:45 p.m. when it left the roadway, entered the grass median and crashed into the back of a parked construction truck.

The Subaru blocked the travel lanes after the crash and the driver, identified as Paul Bigos, was trapped in the vehicle. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The construction vehicle was empty and no other occupants were involved.

It's unclear what led up to the crash at this time.
