Discarded fireworks cause dumpster fire in Lake Oswego

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (KPTV) - Firefighters in Lake Oswego responded to a dumpster fire in a shopping center parking lot.

Lake Oswego Fire posted on X saying the fire was reported Wednesday night at the Westlake shopping center. When firefighters arrived to the scene, crews saw flames spreading from the dumpster enclosure to a nearby building.

Quick response from firefighters kept the fire from spreading any further.

According to Lake Oswego Fire, two teenagers were seen setting off legal fireworks in the parking lot before the fire was found.

The cause of the fire was determined to be discarded fireworks. Lake Oswego Fire wants to remind the public to soak used fireworks in a bucket before discarding them.
