Jorge Masvidal would once claim that Nate Diaz , who began his journey in the combat sports sphere back in 2004, after two decades of getting hit in his professional fights, may have sustained some damage in his head. Is that true? Well, Diaz, over a year ago, would address that issue and expose the truth behind speculation that he might have CTE.

Nate Diaz, being the MMA icon that he is, has fans looking forward to his upcoming fight, a boxing match against former UFC rival Jorge Masvidal. But as we approach the fight this weekend, let's have a look at the statements Diaz made about the assumptions that he may have suffered some medical issues from fighting.

Nate Diaz fires back at 'brain damage' critics Before Nate Diaz stepped into the boxing ring for the first time in 2023, he did an interview where he came unglued on people claiming that he's suffered too much damage throughout his MMA career. The Stockton native has often been seen getting busted up fairly quickly in his UFC, which he claimed is a result of getting hit by elbows and knees. And although he has two KO losses, which is far less compared to other veterans, he claims to have never been overpowered by his opponents' strikes.

"I'm not just walking in like a meathead into punches. I've never been knocked out. I've never even really been f***ing stunned stupid or nothing," Nate Diaz stated on 'The Pat McAfee Show' . He also exposed the fact that the people who cite his speech patterns and mannerisms as indicators that he suffered brain damage. In actuality, Diaz has always been like this.

"These f***ers are talking about how I talk and I've got f*ing CTE or some sh*t. I'm like, 'Bro, I've been talking this way the whole motherf***ing time'. It's got nothing to do with getting hit or none of that. I'm smarter now than ever," Diaz added. Now, having turned from MMA to boxing has been a relaxing one for the 39-year-old.

The fact that there's less wear and tear with the lack of grappling and wrestling has given him a little breather. Although Nate Diaz disputes getting brain damage from his MMA fights, he did suffer some serious injuries. Let us now shift our attention to that front.

Diaz got injured while fighting Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title Nate Diaz has had a busy week with several interview appearances ahead of his boxing match this weekend. As such, he stopped by former UFC champion Demetrious Johnson 's 'MightyCast' show on YouTube, where he'd reveal the only instances when he was seriously injured in a fight, including the BMF title fight against 'Gamebred', which saw the doctor stop the fight.

"I was f***** up when I fought Masvidal. I tore him my meniscus two weeks before I fought him and I couldn't even f****** hardly walk in the fight," Diaz told 'Might Mouse'. "I didn't even know I tore my meniscus. I found that out after. But, I was training and I was like, dude, I could hardly even walk." Nate Diaz would eventually compete in the fight at UFC 244 regardless of the pain he had been suffering since training. However, he would not be able to capture the BMF strap.
