Doing it for the 210 and 410/Jay's historic run

We've been talking about it for at least half the season, John Jay might be the best 210 story in High School Football this season. But what the Jay Mustangs are doing this season on the grid is historic.

Never in school history have they been 3-rounds deep into the post season.

Well earned; they haven't lost yet outside their own league.

And both of the teams the Mustangs lost to during the regular campaign, Harlan and Brennan, are both still alive in the playoffs too. Jay, though, the only 6A team remaining inside Loop 410.

Head coach Gary Gutierrez knew he had a good team going into this season. But turns out, it's historically good. Coach Gutierrez says he thought his team came of age in a close loss to unbeaten Harlan earlier in the year. The confidence that gave his team in that particular ball game has helped the Mustangs realize they can play with anybody.

Coach "G" says they'll have some un-scouted looks for Dripping Springs, but will also make sure the Mustangs focus on executing what they've done best this season in the build-up to Friday's early start time from the Alamodome. He's also not taking for granted what these moments mean for his team and school (hear in the clip provided).
