Donald E. Dean

Donald E. Dean (Don) of Byron, MN passed away peacefully on the morning of September 22, 2024, at Seasons Hospice House, in Rochester, MN.

Donald Elmer Dean was born on April 24, 1937 in Rochester, MN to parents Elmer and Alice (Pederson) Dean. Upon graduating high school, Don went on to obtain his Associates in Arts Degree. He then began his 33-year long career at IBM, where he later retired as a Senior Programmer. On September 6, 1956, he married the love of his life, Patricia Green, in Rochester, MN. They were members of Christ United Methodist Church.

Don shared his love of motorcycling with friends and family alike. He logged hundreds of thousands of miles in his lifetime, from childhood up to the spring of this year. He most enjoyed riding hundreds of miles per day in the Upper Mississippi River bluffs and valleys while attending favorite stops for lunch along the way. He also enjoyed woodworking and spending time with friends and family.

In Don's later years he became reacquainted with Bonnie (Culbertson) Olson who was very special to him, caring for each other until his passing. Don will be missed deeply by many.

Don is survived by his children, Deborah (Dave) Benson of Wasilla, AK., Michael (Teresa) Dean of Rochester, MN., Kimberly (Chris) Coleman of Highlands Ranch, CO., and Joseph (Stephanie) Dean of Stillwater, MN.; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents, Elmer and Alice; and his grandson, Bryce Benson.

A private service will be held at a later date.
