SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Just days after dozens of booms reverberated throughout the Wasatch Front, the Tooele Army Depot is planning for more detonations.

On Monday morning, Sept. 23, the Tooele Army Depot warned residents through a social media post that its South Area was "a go" for open detonation. These detonations are expected to take place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

"All weather conditions have been reviewed and detonations will be executed within permit limits," the Tooele Army Depot said in their statement.

One person shared the post to social media commenting, "Ok, let's not all trip out this time."

Late last week, the open detonations from the Tooele Army Depot sparked a wave of confusion throughout the Wasatch Front as the blasts were heard and felt from Kaysville in Davis County to Orem in Utah County.

The blasts came with no warning from the Tooele Army Depot, which usually alerts residents of their operations beforehand. Wade Williams, Tooele Army Depot public affairs officer told ABC4 the depot was having issues with their social media accounts , leading to widespread confusion and concern.

A few hours after the initial blasts last week, the Tooele Army Depot said, "We are sorry that we didn't post anything. We will do a better job in the future."

The Tooele Army Depot, located on more than 44,000 acres in Utah's west desert, originally opened during World War II as a storage depot for war supplies, ammunition, and combat vehicles. They continue that work today, managing munitions for the U.S. military. During these detonations, the Tooele Army Depot is disposting unusable and expired munition stocks to free up storage.

The Tooele Army Depot is cleared for these detonations between April and October from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
