Doorbell footage captures sounds of gunshots in Chesapeake shooting

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Sea Palling Lane community is calling Friday nights shooting rare.

One neighbor, Rachel Thomas, said it was a bit unsettling.

Chesapeake Police Department were called to Sea Palling Lane just before 8 p.m. Friday night. Officers arrived to the home police and found a man dead on the scene. Neighbors in the area told 10 On your side the neighborhood is usually quiet.

"This is a family neighborhood," Thomas said. "Super quiet. It's middle class America here. You just go to work. Mind your business. Enjoy your neighbors. That's it."

Police have not given a motive for the shooting at this time. Thomas believes this incident may have rattled the community – but it will bring everyone closer.

"The type of neighborhood this is, I think, its just going to draw us closer as neighbors, because immediately everyone came out to console everyone or just to make sure — like what in the world is going on?" Thomas said. "So it's good people out here and I think it will just draw us closer."
