Man hit, killed by train in Madera

MADERA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – An investigation is underway after a man was struck by a train in Madera Saturday afternoon, the Madera Police Department announced.

Police around 2 p.m. responded to a call involving a man who was hit by a train near Sharon Boulevard and Ellis Street.

Officers report the 37-year-old man was found lying between the railroad tracks under the box cars connected to the train. He succumbed to his injuries during the collision.

Investigators report the train conductor attempted to warn the man using the horn but he did not respond. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in this incident.
